Hello everyone, Virginia here I don't know about you but this year I've been completely hooked on my gelli plate, so much so that I've recently had a birthday and hubby has treated me to the giant one (not that I've broken it out of its packaging yet).
Earlier in the summer after a significant bout of gelli plating and chopping and cropping to use in various journals and mini books I had a stack of 'off cuts', they were too big to throw away but too small to utilise on cards etc. And I got to thinking about how else I could use them. I was sat with the news on in the background at the time and realised how negative it was, on the table sat a miserable tabloid newspaper and it got me to thinking about how to make the world a happier place. I've also seen a few collaborative art projects recently which looked like fun, so I got to thinking gelli plate offcuts, positive thoughts and making life a bit better for a fellow human being - could I possibly pull it off?
So with some card offcuts, gelli print offcuts, a happy statement and a little bit of time I generated these little beauties
I added stamping around the gelli print offcuts and a few positives statements that I'd got in stamp form.
On the back I added the Happy Day statement
And I was hooked, before I knew it I'd generated a little pile of the cards all prepared and ready to go, I have a few in my handbag or my work bag or just in my pocket. When I'm out and about I leave a trail of happy cards for people, hopefully they'll make someone smile and remind them that the world still has some happiness that needs sharing!
So if you like the idea, have a go yourself, grab those off cuts of gelli printing, some cardstock and go to work. Prepare a few in advance and have them about your person, next time you pop for a coffee in a coffee shop or maybe when you return a library book to the library leave a card in a book and think about the person who might find it! If you do give it a go, pop back and let us know, it would be good to know if the idea takes off and spreads happiness far and wide!
