Hi Everyone ... Dolly here.
I have been running a craft club for a few years for children aged between 9 and 11 and I wanted them to be abe to make a mini book they could be really proud of.
I could have just used flat pages ... they would still have loved it .... but I wanted to challenge them a little and get them to make some pages with flaps and pockets too.Having tried one that was too complex that challenged them rather too much and took away some of the fun, I had a re-think and came up with this.
The mini book I came up with is simple enough for children to make with very little support. The instructions mean they can follow them on their own and they really can feel like they have made something they can be proud of.
It is, of course, great for adults too. I have made several of them because they are quick and easy and make great last minute gifts.
They can easily be made with no pictures, just blank mounts so that the recipient can fill them in themselves.
They use just two pieces of cardstock and a variety of papers, some full sheets and others just coordinating scraps.
You also need a couple of different sized envelopes. I used a small money envelope and a C6 envelope.
I bound mine with a bind it all, but it would work with book rings or ribbon too.
The covers are just chipboard and can be decorated anyway you want.I had fun with paper and foam roses and die cut leaves from thin foam sheets.
And the beauty is you can have as many extra pages as you want.
If you would like the downloadable instructions HERE they are
Whether you make this for yourself or give the crafting bug to children with the free instructions, I hope that you enjoy this simple but effective mini book.
Thank you, might be an interesting project with some of my students.
