Inspired by colour, paper, fabric, nature, patterns, sounds, architecture, we love to create and we're not afraid to experiment. ALICE

“Begin at the beginning," the King said, very gravely, "and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

And so our Wonderland theme has reached the final post - I'll draw the curtains and switch on the light:

and show you my lampshade, made from A4 size sheets of artists' canvas, like this one

fed patiently through the printer, (I say patiently, as my printer doesn't always want to play with canvas, but if I'm careful I can take it by surprise and it prints before it has realised that it's not a sheet of paper or card); popped on the radiator for the ink to dry, repeated 4 times altogether.

I re-inforced the edges with strips of mountboard

trimmed and laced them together,

and hung the completed shade from a light fitting (low energy bulb of course for that gentle 'oh so slightly annoyingly not quite bright enough to read by' glow)

One last passage from Alice's adventures in Wonderland...

"Lastly, she pictured to herself how this same little sister of hers would, in the after-time, be herself a grown woman; and how she would keep, through all her riper years, the simple and loving heart of her childhood: and how she would gather about her other little children, and make their eyes bright and eager with many a strange tale, perhaps even with the dream of Wonderland of long ago: and how she would feel with all their simple sorrows, and find a pleasure in all their simple joys, remembering her own child-life, and the happy summer days."
