Hi there Kerry here with a knitted fairy
I stumbled across a book about knitted fairies when I was searching for another book on my local library website so I ordered it. I wasn't expecting much when I went to collect it but WOW I was blown away with how different and modern the designs were. The ladies behind the counter had been cooing over it apparently. That book was Knitted Fairies by Fiona McDonald
The knitting itself is straightforward and well written. Putting all the bits together was fun but oh gosh did I struggle with the face. She is definitely one of a kind! I decided to go for safety eyes rather than the painted felt ones in the book. I have the pieces already knitted for another one so I think I will try the painted ones next time. Lips aswell. The face has to be needlesculpted which I didn't quite get the hang of. Practice makes perfect as they say. The hair I am happy with. It was great fun rooting each individual strand.
Here are some more pics of my rather erm unique fairy
Tee-hee she is just adorable, and who wouldn't love hair like that? A most unusual project, very striking.

Hello Kerry, I too am very enamoured with the' Knitted Fairies' book, and am currently making Cobweb for a friends birthday. I'm loving the fact that you can be really creative and use your own ideas. Hope to see some more pics of yours soon, how long did she take you by the way? I have to have mine finished in 2 weeks time, so here's hoping!
