That's as corny as it was first time around, isn't it?
Eleanor back here with a little owl to make someone smile.
This is what I started with:
Eagle-eyed among you will notice the base colour of the felt has changed, lol, I actually made 4 of these, 2 are green and brown and 2 are brown and green.
First I stitched the floral cotton fabric to the brown felt wings along one edge only.
Then I stitched some trim to one of the body pieces (leave the ribbon and thread ends to trim later):
Each eye was attached with a single stitch up through the layers and out through a sequin and a seed bead, then back down through the sequin and the layers again, knotting off at the back:
Add the other eye, stitch the beak on and tuck the ears behind the eyes for now:
Place the wings face down onto the body and lift the whole assemblage onto the other body part:
Stitch all the way around, lifting the eyes out of the way around the top corners, whilst you catch in the ears, trim the sticking out bits and open the wings:
Odd tied-off threads here and there add to the charm of these little owls (that's my theory and I'm sticking to it).
Here they are, and yes, the top one was hand stitched, took forever, wasn't that neat, and I realised that I have a very slow stitch on my machine which is still quicker than hand stitching, so why not use it.
I have discovered that I love it (the slow stitch) and will be using it on a project in a future post.
(These are NOT a toy, and are unsuitable for young children.)
Owl be seeing you!
Oh I love it - made me smile too :)
