Hi I'm Bev and I am so excited to be making my first post for It's a Creative World.. I have always loved craft and do a bit of papercrafting, sewing, baking, jam making and jewellery making.. I'll have a go at anything! I also enjoy crafting with my children and like to dream up activities to do especially if they have friends over.
Today I thought I'd share some of the brooches I have made for friends and as teacher presents. The felt flower brooches are made by stamping the felt with archival or staz on ink and then carefully machine sewing around the petals, lightly stuffing them and glueing a brooch/pin back on.
I found the initial idea for this on the Hero Arts you tube video and as a happy stamper thought this was a wonderful way to use my stamps a little more. I careful followed the instructions at first but have now gathered my own ideas and used other stamps as well. There are lots of ideas on the internet for brooches/corsages/pins and it's great inspiration. I have made lots and they change depending on my mood, a bit of beading, just the right button, the seams out of denim jeans rolled up (very effective) or just a bit of raw silk twisted and a bit of bling..
Die cuts are great for making brooches ( and bookmarks) with children. This is my daughters creation with some cheap felt from the pound shop. We have invited friends to tea and then sent them home with their own creations! Lovely.
I hope my first post was ok and gave you some ideas and thank you so much for allowing me to share with you.
Bev

As the proud recipient of one of these brooches (mine is one of the teal ones in the first picture!) I can say just how fabulous they are and something that I regularly get complimented on! Welcome to IACW Bev, I am thrilled you are getting the opportunity to share your incredible creativity!

We are delighted to welcome you aboard Bev, and what a fabulous first post. I especially love the green bloom, and will be 'having a go' (never thought of a little filling, it really makes them rather special).
