Hi everyone, so how are your Christmas plans coming together?
I am as always totally disorganised, I don't know why but I still get caught out every year and I always say....this time next year I will do better but in all honesty I tend to get worse!
So onto what I have to show you today. I have noticed that felt items seem to be really big right now and whether for yourself or a gift it is a great medium to "play" with.
For this poinsettia I have used the new Spellbinder die Layered Poinsettia together with red and gold felt, red stickles, thread and gold beads. The dies cut felt lovely although I like to put it through my Calibur a couple of times just to make sure. You also need to take care removing from the die. I have used a couple of layers of the larger dies finishing with just one of the smallest, all sewn together and added to a brass badge pin.
The other item I wanted to share is something that I have been doing all year round. This is a 365 day calender started by the lovely Kate at The Kathryn Wheel. Every month we create a page with little spots to write our diary or even just key events in, this is my new one for December;
I have used my Distress inks to create the tree and background then my Spellbinder dies "Holiday tags" and Heirloom 2011 to create the kraft baubles. I have used textured stamps to create the background both behind and on the tree. The idea is that you fill a shape daily with whatever you want to, I tend to keep mine as a mini diary but some doodle or do both. Why not follow the link above to Kate's blog where you can check out what everyone else has been up to, you will need to scroll back to the 1st of the month...did I mention I was playing catch up?
Just so you can get an idea of what they look like completed this is my favourite month "June" all finished;
Trust me to pick the only two trees I have done!
I do think it is a nice thing to look back on especially as I seem to be so bad at doing any scrap booking just now, with special events mentioned on it I can always look back to match photos to dates.
As the cartoons say, "that's all folks!" (From me).
"Happy crafting!"
Regards Erika.
Erika these are fabulous! I have been so inspired that I've decided to do one of those monthly journals for 2012 - such a fab idea and a great record to look back on the year. Thank you x

Me too, I think a tree every month wouldn't be too many trees, just love the style of it, and the way you've filled those June leaves - fantastic.
