Hi, Kel here and I've been scrapbooking. A friend and I started "1st Saturday Scrapping" about a year ago, and it has done wonders to reconnect me with my scrapping mojo. I've always admired big projects like A to Z albums, daily life albums, and Shimelle's projects but I find it hard to stick at them.
I recently turned 39, and that was a bit of a shock, as it means that 40 is just around the corner. One of my greatest discoveries in my 30s was that, once I reached ages that I could remember my parents at, I realised that they didn't feel anymore together and 'grown-up' than I do. To me, being in your 30s means having a greater sense of who you are and being less at the mercy of your insecurities than in your 20s. I haven't worked out what being in your 40s means. I decided to do a "Road to 40" album to help work that out. The "prepare to offer proof of identity" envelope is all about that and contains 5 or 6 prompt questions to consider each month. Hopefully that will help pin down and document a bit of who I am at this time in my life.
Art journals, diaries, scrapbooks and the like have always helped me work out my feelings, so I'm hoping this will be no exception. I'll be using October Afternoon's 'Rocket Age' papers as a unifying theme throughout, in part because I like the retro vibe and because they speak to me of the adventure ahead, but also because they just tickle me and make me smile (which I figure is a good thing, anytime you're looking a big birthday in the eye!).
Thanks for looking,
Kel x
'First Saturday Scrapping' sounds like a brilliant idea. Loved the LOs and the concept of a road to 40. I'm now 40 + 3 and it's OK. Feel more comfortable in my own skin :)
Cute paper.

Lovely pages and you look good for 39. I turned 40 this year and have yet to scrapbook myself at all.
I think 40's are all about being a little more selfish & not putting others first so much(though i will always put family first but they are a little more grown up now, well some of them lol), spoil yourself once & a while and i'm off on a get myself fit quest too :)

Fascinating musings, promising to be a significant album, hope to see more of it over time.
My forties contained some of the best and desperately worst periods in my life, but I've found an inner peace.
