Hi Claireliz here
At the start of the year I said I wanted to learn to crochet, in fact I've been saying it for a while now, well I finally took the plunge & have started a ripple blanket for my 5 year old daughters bed, I had a few false starts, that is managing to crochet so far, making a complete mess of it, having to pull it out & start all over again & repeating that process a few times, but finally I have the start of a ripple blanket, I seem to have got the knack now, infact I'm struggling to tear myself away to work on other things...
I know its not perfect but for a first attempt, I'm pretty impressed with myself...
I got the pattern free from Ravelry. I get the feeling that in a few months I'll have ripple blankets all over the house & other crochet items to match.
So now I can add crochet to my list of hobbies.
Well that's all from me fo rnow, I'm off to do some more on this blanket.
C xx
Your blanket looks great.
I've tried crochet but still can't get to grips with it.

Well done on learning a new skill. I love crochet too, how did you learn was it an online tutorial? x

My mum tried to teach me, but she found it hilarious that I couldn't get to grips with it, she spent more time laughing than she did showing me lol, so I borrowed her Stitch & Bitch book & learnt from there, from then on it was just practice

Haha, you're hooked now. That's how it gets you.
I haven't managed a whole large thing/garment yet, but would love to crochet a cardigan. The drawback is how expensive yarn is, especially the really nice ones. :(

My Mum tried only the other week to try yet again to teach me. It didn't help that when I got a book out she said 'oh but I don't do it like that'! After I'd done a bit she turned to me and said 'you're going to throw that aren't you?' I think the look I gave her said it all. Maybe I need to look at a video tutorial and try yet again LOL
Your project looks just brilliant and you should be very proud - well done.
