Hello Joy here,
I am still playing with my pom-pom makers and my thoughts have turned to Easter. We needed an Easter craft project for our Year 2 class at school. We came up with Easter chicks made from carrier bags. Cheap, or should I say cheep! and a great way to recycle.
You will need;
Pom-pom maker or do it the old-fashioned way!
A plastic bag - yellow or orange.
pipe cleaners.
1. Cut the handles off the carrier bag.
2. Cut the bag into one long strip. This can be done by cutting in a continuous spiral.
3, Divide the long length into two pieces.
4. Start wrapping one of the plastic strips round the first half of the pop-pom maker.
5. Continue until you have filled both sides are done. Finish off pom-pom. Add pipe cleaners for legs and cut paper to make eyes and beak.
We are experimenting with sheep & bunnies. We are also thinking of making pom-pom bunting, for The Royal Wedding, using Tesco carrier bags, as they are red, white & blue.
Happy making xxx
I really like that idea.
Where did you get your pom pom makers?
I still use cardboard circles.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Love the reuse of an item that clutters up the kitchen drawers no matter how you try not to end up with them!

Just a heads up - Sainsbury and Tesco bags are bio-degradable - they break down over time - not sure if that will be an issue with using them as bunting? I knit with plarn (plastic bag yarn) and have to ignore those bags as they just break down too quickly!
