Hey, hey, hey, Claireliz here, how are you all?
So CHA has been & gone, new products have been displayed & demonstrated & will be being shipped at various points over the next few months, normally I find myself drooling over all the new releases, but this time only one thing really caught my eye - Smash Books by K&Co, they're books that you can just stick cool stuff in, I love them. There is a video on the sidebar of their blog which is here, the video looks very cool.
The books aren't being shipped until April, however I'm not known for my patience & that got me thinking...why don't I make my own version of the Smash Book? They are very similar to the inspiration books I used to make in college, so this morning I popped into the stationary/art supply shop in town on my way to work & picked up 2 of these A4 sketch books (they were buy one get one free - bargain)...
Ok, so the cover isn't as pretty as a Smash Book & the pages are plain white instead of printed with various designs, but I have more patterned paper than I could probably ever use, so it kind of makes sense to me to put the two together.
I'll probably still treat myself to a Smash Book, for research purposes of course, after all I have to contrast & compare (that's my story & I'm sticking to it lol), but I'm hoping this will keep me busy in the meantime. So I'm now busy collating all the random bits of paper, doodles, tickets & flyers I've collected so I can start sticking stuff in, it will also be nice to have all my inspiration in one place.
Thanks for stopping by & hope to see you again soon

What a fab little video you found Claire, utterly charming, love the music too, lol. Now that's a REAL scrapbook, I must do this, it got me hooked right at a doodle of a poodle and a feather of a pigeon. In fact I think I have enough 'bits' to fill 10 already. I'm with you, love it.

Nice video - though this is just what I would call a journal or scrapbook, something which has bits of life in. Agreeing with you - we don't need to buy a special book with special bits. I am sure we have plenty of our own. Thanks for the inspiration!

Looks like a lot of fun that'll be fab to look back on. I'd like to see some pages when you're done. :)

Really funny - I do completely agree that you need to compare and contrast!!!

Wow what a great idea.
Thanks for the idea, I have some sketch books I haven't used and this is great to get me kickstarted.
