Hi all Michelle here with a bright and tropical offering to try and chase away those winter blues!
I have always loved collage work and that is why I was drawn to scrapbooking. I see it as a form of collage with personal photos and journaling added into the art work. This page includes all those elements alongside the ephemera of the memory.
We all keep tickets and things like wristbands from great days as a memory so why not dig them out from the back of that kitchen drawer and weave them into a collage so the memory can be lived in daylight, maybe as a piece of art work on your wall?
This page is a record of one of my many trips to Mexico (where I will be today in fact which is why I was prompted to share this with you ... lucky me heh!) And the memory of a day when we were lucky enough to take part in a Dolphin training programme for a full 7 hours ... bliss!
I gathered several small photos of the day and printed some of them on gloss paper and some of them on white card to cut out and use as embellishments (like the parrots and lizard)
I photographed the badges we had to wear on the day and attached a clip and strap to them to look ‘real’ I photocopied the certificate we were given (reducing the size) as well as the front of the Xel Ha brochure (increasing the size) so I could cut the title from it.
I added the bus tickets from the day and one of the wristbands as well as maps from the park’s brochure, cutting out some of my paper embellishments and doodling around them.
I stamped flowers and leaves from my Banana Frog Tropical garden stamp set onto white card and cut them out, they became my journaling blocks as well as adding a splash of tropical colour.
And that’s it a collaged scrap page that I hang on my wall so I can see it regularly to remind me of a truly happy day and smile!
So why not take your scrapping onto another level and get collaging, use that ephemera in your work instead of leaving it at the back of a drawer and enjoy your memories as a piece of bespoke art on your wall, it will certainly be a talking point with visitors!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you feel inspired, I’ll see you over the weekend with the other creative girls for our Simple Things project so until then Happy Crafting
Love M x
