Hi all, Michelle here and it’s my turn to share a project in this corner of a creative world. A little while ago I did a workshop at Bee Crafty and we recreated a crackle mirror I had made way back last year for Banana Frog. One of the embellishments I used was a Prima vine, now we all love those little pretties but they can be costly, so, the girls at Bee Crafty and I cooked up a way to create our own during the workshop. I was thrilled with how they turned out and oh the possibilities to customise and create! Here’s a finished vine
And here are the instructions to create your own!
You will need a selection of wired paper flowers and leaves, some florist wire, some florist tape, wire cutters and thin nose pliers and some (optional) coloured craft wire.
Take one of the florist wires and place a flower at the bottom of it, using some florist tape (mine is quite shiny, unfortunately! You can get a paper looking one which I personally think looks better but couldn’t find when I was creating this post!) tightly wrap the tape around the wires, overlapping and pulling upwards to the top of the wire as you go.
Then start to build your vine upwards
Add in more flowers as you climb the wire, catching them in the tape, I cut small lengths at a time so I don’t get too tied up!
Create branches off by adding in more florist wire and don’t forget to add leaves as you go
I also added in some coloured craft wire in places for extra interest, creating spirals at the ends by twisting it round my long nose pliers
And that is basically it, building up blooms, leaves and wire until you reach your desired size and twisting the vine into shape as you go
How simple and stylish is that .... not to mention super thrifty in these times of saving pennies!! Maybe you know a crafter who would love some of these as a unique Christmas present ... if you can bare to part with them! Thanks for visiting with me today and until soon Happy Crafting
Love MJM x
