It’s the time of year when thoughts turn to presents and the possibility of making them. One of the quick and simple gifts to make for people is a calendar and I love making all sorts of different calendars. I have a couple of suggestions today.
First you can go the simple route – though maybe this isn’t as much fun and is a little pricier. Most of the photo processing companies offer calendars for sale where you simply upload your pictures and then they come back as a calendar. I usually wait until they do a two for one offer (which they always seem to do each year) and then get a couple for family members for Christmas.
This is the calendar I had made for Nigel’s desk last year. They also do full size calendars and cute diaries.
Another option is to buy one of the slimline calendars and simple overlay your own photos on top of the printed picture. (They do sell proper scrapbooking slimline and full size A4 calendars which are much heavier quality but I haven’t seen those for a fw years) The beauty of this is that at the end of the year you have a little book you can keep already bound and a record of the year. You simply snip off the calendar section. I have made these with real paper overlays and with printed digital overlays.
These are the digital pages I made as pages to stick on a blank slimline calendar for Sam and her family.
The third option is to buy one of the calendar bases from companies like K and Co or Making Memories. They either hang or are easel fold type and you often get them in kits with the embellishments and papers. I made an everlasting K and Co one for my desk at work a few years ago and for 2010 I had one of the Making memories calendars, though I did play around with the pages and covered some of them completely as they didn’t suit my style. These were the pages I made and again it makes a little album (well actually quite a big album) when the year is over.
The last type of calendar I love making is the CD holder type. They are so quick and simple to do and really effective. There are great digital kits around with the actual calendar sections and then you just add them to your own mini pages. You can even buy the ready made templates and all you do is add pictures, although personally I like creating my own pages and just adding the calendar tab. Here are the pages I made for my 2010 version and I have just started making 2011 pages.
If you want to make this sort of calendar then here is a hot off the press tip for you. Dawn Inskip has a brand new grab bag out and part of that grab bag are calendar tabs for the calendar. exactly the same as these but 2011 obviously. And it comes packaged with loads of other stuff int he grab bag and is on special off. Find it HERE
So – lots of options and lots of fun.
Have a go at making a calendar – or two or three or four – as gifts for people this year. I promise you will find it quite addictive.
Thanks for all the great ideas... nice variety... tfs
