I taught a Make and Take a couple of years ago which was a mini takeout container and it's been sitting on the shelf above my computer ever since. I love the shape of these little boxes and they are rather simple to make to be honest. Anyway, I decided to create a cutting file for one (there is also a pdf file available) and am working on a digital template too.
The pdf file can be downloaded from here
The gsd file for the Craft Robo can be downloaded from here
These little containers are totally cute. I used some Making Memories Christmas papers (from the Mistletoe range, it's gorgeous and I need to buy more, even though it isn't *gasp* a release from this year!).
After cutting out the template, you simply fold as indicated. This is a no-glue project by the way; once the box is folded you need to punch holes in the areas indicated by the red crosses. True takeout containers will only have the holes punched on the outside flap areas, however you may wish to punch through the inner layer as indicated by the blue crosses, ensuring that all of your punched holes are correctly aligned. And, to be honest, punching the inside as well makes it easier to thread and knot the ribbon through.
PLEASE NOTE that the folded flaps should be on the outside of the box (I made a mistake with the smallest one, oops!), folded towards the direction of the blue cross they are adjacent to.
I have very simply decorated these boxes (well the smallest one is less than 1.5" high so there wasn't much room for adding much more than the ribbon). This is just the perfect size for a little dinner favour, it would fit a single chocolate in for example.
The other two boxes feature some more of the Making Memories patterned paper (it's got lots of different little patterned circles on it that just perfectly fit my 1.5" circle punch) matted onto a cardstock scalloped circle.
The middle sized box measures 1.75" high and I thought that they would make great boxes for an advent calendar, perhaps hung from some dry branches potted up, or from a decorated evergreen garland.
The largest box measures 2.25" high and is perfect for a small present, such as jewellery, make-up or even cash. I used some thick gauge copper wire to form handles on this. I would have preferred gold or silver and, to be honest, a thicker gauge would hold it's shape better, but I had to make do with what I had got in the cupboard.
Additional supplies:
Ribbon: green (Stampin' Up), red stitched (Papertrey); text twill (unknown)
Gems: Papermania
Die cuts: scalloped circles (Nestabilities), tag (Sizzix)
Glitter stickers: Making Memories
Alphabet stamps: Hero Arts
