I love this time of year. It's a time to look back at the successes and failures in the veg patch and a time to learn from my mistakes.
Each year I try plant in a neat manageable way. Bigger plants that need lots of maintenance, like tomatoes (I always try cut the big water draining leaves off) need to be accessible. Each year I learn to do this better and in 2010 I didn't do a bad job, even if I say so myself!!
I also learn what veg does well for me and what we actually eat, rather than just grow to give away. A friend gave me some chard plants which has been a HUGE win for me as it has grown so well and I L*O*V*E love it!!
Sprinkled with olive oil, fresh lemon and salt....
YUMMY!! It tastes just like spinach and is so pretty :)
Chillies are always a success for us. And i've heard you can pot the plants over the winter which I am going to try this year.
Chunkily chopped onion.......
and sliced corgette or marrow.....
a few tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with bazil, roasted in the oven. YUMMY!! Fresh veg is just a treat.
I'll be back in October as I start to prepare the veggie patch for the winter.
Bye

Lovely lovely haul, our toms got blight and our chillies shrivelled before our eyes.
Love that rainbow chard.
