Ali here,
Steampunk is spreading everywhere at the moment, it is influencing adverts, fashion and crafting too. some of the people who follow the sub-culture of Steam and Diesel Punk take it to outstanding levels, dressing as such characters as Airship pilots and Victorian ladies of Adventure ,creating artifacts that are both beautiful to look at with their workmanship and outstanding in their functionality, all those cogs and dials are there for a reason, which is not possible in paper craft, so I like to call this genre of
papercraft Steampunk-esq...it's a little pedantic i know, but it does make me feel just a little bit better in
myself.
So, now i've got that off my chest, here is a STEAMPUNK-ESQ panel that i made using a piece of foam board, some of the delightful Steampunk debutante range from Graphic 45 and some bits and pieces from my stash.
To start with a cut a piece of foamboard and covered it with pages torn from an old paperback book.
then I brushed the pages with some walnut ink-the proper stuff,be careful ,it stains! When the ink was dried the page was then brushed with Modge Podge and the main paper added on, this was then collaged upon, with another final layer of Modge Podge over the collage at the end and left to dry.
because the foam board has a phone core, cogs and pointy things can be pressed into the board to be held in place
Traditionally,(if such a thing is possible with Steampunk!) the colours that are used in Steampunk are tones of browns, this is supposed to represent sepia photographs.
but really,anything goes!
Ali it is AWESOME!!!!!!!

Lovely pieces of art.
The pieces on the blue one look like real clock parts, are they?
Wish I could find some broken clocks steampunk esque is a very nice look.

there is so much bad steampunk stuff around nowadays, so refreshing to see something as well executed as these - they are brilliant!
