Easy Paper Bag Books
Ali here,
Summer holidays have come, and so have ''I'm bored....'' Niall went to Llandudno on a school trip earlier in the year, and when he left for summer; his teacher gave him a load of photos of their trip. He decided that he wanted to put them in a book so he could look at them to remind himself of his residential.
When I was having a sort out I found some paper bags in my stash, so used them to make a very simple bag book.
Take a bunch of paper bags, and open fully at the gusset end, stack them on top of each other, and make 2 holes in the gusset edge
Next, you want to mat the bag pages with card and paper, simply cut pieces of paper and card that are just a little smaller than the bag-I always use a heavier weight card for the first and last bag in the stack ,as it gives the book a little more stability.
When all the bags have been matted, then you simply take a long piece of ribbon, thread it through the stack of bags,so that both tails are to the front, and tie in a bow-although,it will be easier to decorate if the book is not tied together.
This one (red cover) is a little more complex, but still really easy...
Take 3 paper bags and trim off the gusset ends on all three.
fold the bags in half and score
Then trim 1/2 inch off one end of one of the bags, and 1 inch offone end of another of the bags.
Now lay the bags on top of each other and refold all bags down the center fold and you will have ''stepped ''bags.
Cut a piece of cardstock
That is the same width as the bags, but 1 1/2 inches longer than the bags, fold this in half, and wrap it around the bags.
Make three holes through the card stock and bags and thread through some book rings,
The book can now be decorated.
These are really cool Ali, I must try & make a paper bag book :)

Have made these often, but never a staggered one, love that version - another thing on my list. (smiling that it's photographed on the stone 'steps'!) (and smiling also at that cheeky boy grin)
