Hello Eleanor here with a little something for a concert.
Instead of our usual white tops with black bottoms, we were recently asked to sing in brightly coloured tops (actually it might have been just 'plain coloured' tops, but I interpreteted that as bright) with some sort of matching accessory. I chose turquoise, and since other members of the group (the female ones at any rate) were wearing things in their hair, I decided to stitch up a fascinator.
The last time I wore anything in my hair may well have been 25 years ago, here: (don't laugh)
and before that, 27 years ago, here (it's confetti!):
but hey, so I'm growing my hair for the first time in 10 years, and that's worthy of a little bit of felt and a few beads I reckon...
I layered the turquoise onto the pink, stitched here and there with stranded embroidery thread, popped a few beads here and there (actually stitching the beads on took minutes, finding the beading needle first took 3 hours!) and added a strip of felt at the back to slide a hairband through (but I could have stitched on a clip or grip) and this was the result:
I tried it on; the only place to balance the camera on self timer was the toilet cistern, but I assure you I was not seated on the lav at the time, despite the somewhat pained expression I have. Told you I was growing my hair - that's why it's a mess, but it looked alright on the night, I think. And the audience could hardly see the crow's feet from where they were sitting.
Oh, and if you wanted a better look at that great 60s wedding I was bridesmaid at, (my cousin Susan and her chap Jim), here it is:
Ta-ra for now.
Love the fascinator, and what lovely photos too.

Love this I must make one myself as it's the only thing I like to sew (Felt)
The Susans wedding pic is lovely like the veil blowing and looking back on the fashions xxxx

I feel your pain with growing your hair - I constantly look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards at the moment :P Love how yours is looking though and your fascinator is gorgeous.

Beautiful colours and I love the beads. These can be so expensive to buy in the shops. I have short hair but the girls both have long hair. Yet another project for the holidays! I need to be off for about 10 weeks now!
