While looking through Artists'Journals and sketchbooks:Exploring and creating personal pages by Lynne Perrella I came across a section were she'd created an Art Journal with a friend. I really liked the idea and Debbie said she'd like to do one with me.
We are making two pages of each idea, one to keep and one for the other person. They are not identical but use the same technique. We thought you'd like to share our journey, the purist may not class our work as Art per se, but it's the techniques we both enjoy exploring and want to share how they evolved.
I have seen some beautiful image transfer projects, but the mediums used are often expensive. I'd heard you could use sellotape to transfer images and wondered if clear sticky back plastic might work.
This is the page I created for me:
All you need is a roll of clear stickty back plastic and some old magazines.
Cut a piece of sticky back plastic slightly larger than the finished size.
Peel back some of the covering and start layering up torn bits of magazines or scraps of paper or cardstock. Remember to put the writing face down on the plastic.
Once you have all the plastic covered, spray liberally with water. Rub gently with your finger to remove the paper, it will come off in rolls. If you rub to hard some of the image may come away, but I think this adds to the finished piece.
To glitter the word "Art" I traced with glossy accents and sprinkled glitter on top before sticking it to the page.
The edge has been softened by painting it.
Here's the page I made for Debbie:
Debbie is fluent in French so I used Paris for my theme.
Thanks for looking, Lynne x
Lovely to see your page again Lynne. The stickly backed plastic gives such a lovely effect.

Lovely pages. I've read about the technique but not known anyone who's given it a try - looks great!
