Hello Eleanor here, with a slightly messy technique which results in a textured background like this:
I started with some tissue paper:
pva glue (mine was temporarily misplaced, so this is what I used):
Some pieces of plain cardstock:
And some creamy metallic rub-ons, like cream eyeshadow, I think these may have been a magazine freebie some years back, but you could also use sparkly wax crayons or chalk or oil pastels.
I mixed the pva half and half with water in a bowl, slooshed it onto a piece of cardstock, draped onto it a piece of tissue approx twice as large as the card, and manoeuvred it all onto the card, creasing and crinkling to fit. I then flattened it all with the palm of my hand and set it to dry. This is how my 3 pieces looked when wet:
After an hour on the central heating boiler they were crisper than a piece of melba toast:
so I set to with my metallic rubbing, just smearing a little onto the creases and into the hollows, silver on the blue:
reddish copper on the yellow:
and both gold:
and silver, on the black:
I think the last 2 are the most effective, but any of them would be useful trimmed to size as ATC bases, or art journal covers, or collage backgrounds.
Cheerio for now.
This is gorgeous. I'm really enjoying making ATCs at the moment and this would create a perfect base for them.
