Kel here, and it's time for me to start thinking about my Christmas card list. All my very worst perfectionist qualities come out when it comes to Christmas cards. A very wise friend once told me that "perfect" is the enemy of good. Boy, is she right! When I get trapped in perfectionist thinking, I spend so long designing the perfect card, the perfect system, writing the perfect letter, that either nothing gets done, or it gets to be so late that some things just don't get done. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with precision, or high standards, but getting caught up in perfectionism can certainly be counter-productive.
So, this year, I'm starting early (which with the postal strikes here in the UK is probably not a bad thing). I'm going to make sure I have time to track down the new addresses of people who have moved and that I've tracked down the missing postcodes. Then I'll be all set when the muse strikes for the Christmas cards I'm making, and I sit down to write my Christmas letter.
To underline this fresh start, I wanted to make myself a cute book to keep it all in. It's ring bound, so that I can add pages as the years go by, or inspiration hits later this season. I'll add the pdf files below so that you can make your own if the fancy takes you.
You'll need:
2 sheets of patterned paper (either 12" or 8 1/2"x11" will work)
two bits of chipboard, a little bigger than A5
punched circles or tabs & stickers or letter stamps for labelling
2 book rings
ribbons for book rings
pages for addresses*
pages for lists
*I used A4 kraft paper from Paperchase and the pdf files below. Make sure you print them full size, not scaled to fit page, and print them on the front and back of your paper. Cut in half to create A5 pages. I alternated green and red for each letter section.
Mine's not ready for the public yet, so I'll update you when it's done!
Download green Christmas labels (new corrected file!!!)
CUTE!!
