It is never too early to start getting ready for Halloween. I like to let the local children know that I am happy for Trick or Treaters to call by leaving a special sign on my window sill.
This is easily made from baked bean tins.
1. Wash out 3 bean tins. Fill with water and put in the freezer, until frozen.
2. Take the cans out of the freezer and place on a towel. With a marker pen, write the letters you need for your word. You are going to punch holes into the tin. The ice will support the tin to prevent it being distorted with the hammering.
3. Carefully space your holes.
4. Empty the ice out of the tin. I usually run it under a hot tap. Dry thoroughly and place a tea light candle in the base. Arrange your letters to form a word on your window sill. Light.
The tins can get hot so be careful and follow candle safety.
Start saving cans now. You may want to make a longer word or make creative shapes. These are also pretty for Christmas. Spell out N O E L or punch out snowflakes or stars.
Have fun.

These are so cute, I am definitely saving my cans! You could also put sand in the bottom of the cans before putting the candle in it so that the wind doesn't blow it over.
