Woo Hoo I attended a scrapping class in Durban.
Being away from home with very little stash has not so far been a problem. On Saturday i attended a class in a GREAT little shop quite close to my "home from home".
We had loads of space to scrap, the biggest cutting mat I have ever seen, and a great store to shop in LOL I broke my budget!
This is the page we had to scrap:
The specific techniqe we used was pleating strips of paper to go around the circle and using minimal embellishments. However I used 3 sheets of patterned paper and 3 sheets of card stock! VERY extravagant!!
We started by cutting a circle from 1 sheet of PP. The pencil mark was the size of the plate and we cut about 1/2 inch outside the pencil line.
We cut about 8 strips of the second PP 12 inches lng and 1 inch wide and pleated them,
We then stuck them down around the circle covering the pencil mark. I used what I had at hand to press them down:
This is my almost finished page - I had no photographs!
When I got home I played a bit with some old pics I had of Caz and Stu:
The litle circles are sort of buttons made from left over pp. I wish now that I had raised them and used some glossy accents. Maybe next time.
Isn't it wonderful how different my page is to the challenge page. In fact everyone's page was totally DIFFERENT.

What a great way to add texture to a LO. I'm always on the look-out for tehniques/ideas to use on 'boysish' LO's as the hearts & flowers thing totally doesn't work for the lads in my family. Thanks for sharing :)
