I spotted a box of 3 flat swiss rolls recently in Asda, and bought it, to have in the cupboard.
Faced
with a Sunday roast, but no dessert, just a punnet of strawberries
which would no way go round 5 folk, I fished out the swiss roll box, a
packet of strawberry instant whip, 300ml milk, a jar of home-made
strawberry jam and 300ml of double cream.
To begin with, I made up the strawberry whip with 300ml milk, and in a separate bowl, whipped the double cream.
I halved 2 of the swiss rolls and laid one half on a plate:
On this I spread a tablespoon of strawberry jam:
On top I spooned alternating dollops of whip and cream, and spread it out:
On top of this I arranged some slices of strawberry:
I added another swiss roll half and repeated the layer:
Finally another swiss roll half and the remaining whip and cream piped on and decorated with a few more strawberries. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Best eaten same day (not a chore).
