I don't know how often I've sat with my pretty papers and my photos and just shoved them round and round without a clue what to do! Sometimes the scrapping spirit is strong but the mojo is weak!
The other week some uber talented friends of mine came up with sketches to inspire and although I have often shied away from scrap lifting I just couldn't resist and I was very glad I played along!
First of all I tried Mafswife's layout. It was simpler than I usually do but I loved the addition of texture and it was perfect for this lovely picture of our new Beagle, Rowdy!
Ann's sketch and her layout:
And here's my version:
Andrea Gourley aka GeordieGirl came up with a really cute card sketch that I can see me using LOTS as it's so versatile. It's a great sketch that can be embellished or kept simple- just lovely!
and my version using the lovely Hero Arts stamps:
It's great when you do a scraplift and you use a design that you'd not thought of before. For example Kate Hadfield's Sketch used 5 photos on one layout which was perfect for me as I still have lots of holiday photos to scrap! Sitting down and resizing the photos in Photoshop Elements to a 2.5" x 3.5" made me see what a useful format this will be for those holiday photos. It's such a versatile layout that I'll be able to adapt it to many different photos without the layouts looking samey!
this is my non-digital version using 6 photos:
Oh and the title 'Lyme Jeebus' was what my children started calling Lyme Regis *grins*
Now Charlotte came up with a beautiful layout that was a little more intricate and required relearning an old technique! Years ago when I first started scrapping I learnt (thanks to Hot Off The Press) how to cut patterned papers so they peaked out around photos. Charlotte's lovely method took this technique to the next level. Shapes are cut from the top sheet of the layout and then mounted above a second sheet that is decorated and patterned papers are placed below the cut-outs so they show through!
Here's Charlotte's sketch and zingy layout:
Here's my go - yes it's Rowdy again!!
I was so glad that these ladies took the time to share their talent because by doing layouts and cards based on their sketches I learnt such a lot and I'll be using what I learnt again and again! It really got me thinking outside of my usual safe, scrapping box- I found it really inspiring to see a layout through someone elses's eyes.
So I'm going to try regularly to have a scraplift ESPECIALLY when lacking mojo as it doesn't just get a layout completed it increased my scrapping horizons and was great fun!!
Thanks so much to Kate Hadfield, Charlotte, Mafswife and Andrea for allowing me to share their fabulous sketches and original artwork- you're the best!!
Happy Crafting

My word Katie, how much can you cram into a post - I'm lifting your lifts, for sure, especially the cut away one. Fantastic work all round.
