Hi Jakey here
Today I’m sharing a layout utilising pre-made embellishments and other nifty shortcuts.
Like many of our readers, I’m a busy working Mum, so much as I’d love to be able to faff around with scraps making everything from scratch, time restraints don’t always allow me to. Luckily I’ve never been a snob about hand made embellies! The bits and bobs on this page are all pre-made, and the cheapest you could buy – a bargain from the pound shop!
If you haven’t checked the poundshops out recently, you really need to, you’d be surprised what you can pick up in there. There’s always a bargain of some kind. Sometimes I even come across whole packs containing alphabets, chippies, stickers, resin buttons and papers – all for one pound!
Anyway, after I removed the embellies from the packaging I noticed that the backing was actually rather nice so I cut that out and used it also because it makes an attractive mat!
My other nifty time saving idea was to do some ‘stitching’ without getting the sewing machine out.
To do this you’ll need a dressmaker’s wheel thingy, a ruler and a very fine black pen. Lay you ruler down where you want your line of stitches and run the wheel along it. The little spikes make holes mimicking stitch holes, then just lightly go over the line with a fineliner – again using the ruler – and viola! You’re done!
If you have a super nifty idea for using scraps or one to save scrappy time do let us know – we’d love to feature you and your fab ideas!
Thanks for dropping in today – love from the creative girls xx
