On Saturday I showed our scrapbooking group how to make this origami box and it went down a storm, so I thought I'd show you here!
This box measures 4 inches on the lid and the bottom is 3 1/2 inches. I'll show you how I made one this size.
For the bottom, take a sheet of paper or cardstock measuring 10.5"x10.5" and score in half both ways.
Next, take each corner and fold it into the centre, so it looks like this.
The take each edge and fold it into the centre, so the edges meet. Repeat for the other two sides. You should end up with your cardstock looking like this:
Now here comes the fun bit!
Pull out the top and bottom triangle so your cardstock looks like this.
Pull the two left and right sides up - these are your first two sides to your box. Push the side bits of the triangle in, as shown above, then fold the top over as shown below:
Repeat for the other side to make your box.
You may find it easier and neater to actually glue down the ends into the bottom of the box, that way they won't keep popping up.
The lid is made in exactly the same way, but make the original square of paper/cardstock a 1/2" larger, ie the lid on this box was 11" square.
I put a co-ordinating band of cardstock over the lid and decorated it with ribbon too, just attaching the ends onto the inside of the box lid.
A box of this size would be perfect for a present, or to house some small 3"x3" notecards. Experiment with making smaller boxes - made with festive papers they would look great on the Christmas tree!
Enjoy! Joanne xx
Thank you for posting instructions for this very cute little box :).
