I don't know about you, but I love the smell of lavender but have found that recently, like everything else its going up in price. This year I bought some lavender plants for my garden and a couple of weeks ago decided to have a go at drying my own for use in my fabric hearts and shoes.
I waited until the flowers were quite open and cut some long stems, I tied the bunch together with a ribbon and hung them upside down in my cupboard under the stairs (an airing cupboard would be better if you have one) for about a week then tested to see how dry it was, it was perfect.
I gently removed all the flowers into a glass jar and put the stems in the bin ready for the compost heap. I have even more drying now and hopefully by the end of summer I will have enough to scent my stuffed fabric items.
Thank you for visiting us.

Mmmmmm can smell it now! Interested to see what you come up with as I have huge amounts in the garden - going to cut it and dry it and then see what you can inspire me to do with it!! LOL!!
