Hi everyone - Jakey here!
Hope all our UK readers are enjoying the heatwave... Phew! It's been warm eh? With luck you've had a taste of the nice weather wherever in the world you are, and if you're like me, you'd rather be outside making memories throughout the Summer, than sweltering indoors in a hot craft room. That's why the project i've brought you today can be made in a snap - I actually completed this in under an hour, though you might want to spend a bit more time and end up with a more sophisticated gift. The choice is yours of course!
I wanted to make a little present for a friend who needs cheering up, and I thought altering a wooden birdhouse would make a fun and unusual gift - and cost very little to make, as I have a budget to follow.
This little house was bought from Poundland for... a pound, lol!
First I removed the hanging chain before painting it with ordinary acylic paint (anita's). I then found some co-ordinating paper scraps to decorate it with and used spray adhesive to stick them on.
Ric rac, some chipboard embellies, a smudge of ink, and a leafy stamp finished it off. I printed the words "a little bird told me...", on plain paper, cut them out and added them to the roof. Then I added a pretty birdie, and popped the chain back on.
Might be a nice little project to make with the kids?
Have fun, and be sure to leave us a link if you have a go yourself - the creative girls always love to admire your work!
Jake xxx
