Hi everyone from a very excited MadDi. I have been bursting with excitement about a new project since March and been so looking forward to sharing it with you all.
I wonder if you remember my crochet cushions from March?
Well that very lovely and talented lady "Anita Mundt" (you can visit her on HS:MS or visit her password protected blog) commented on my blog about them, and to cut a long story short, I am making a blanket for Anita for her 'Baby Photographic Shoots".
It has taken since March to order the cotton and have it delivered to South Africa. but at last the project is underway.
Here is the cotton. It is Rowan Cotton Glace and feels just gorgeous. It is slightly thinner than the cotton I used for my cushions and has the most beautiful sheen. I bought 16 colours (48 by 50gm balls 3 balls of each colour.) So, the blanket will be COLOURFUL, BRIGHT and very JOYFULL!!!
I am making a 'double sided' blanket based on the pattern I used for this little blanket for Caz in 1975!!! (Yes I crocheted her dress as well!)
The one side will be for the girl babies with colours like: hot pink, orange, turquoise, yellow, coral, red, lilac etc. The other side will be for the boy babies with colours like:Turquoise, blue, green, aqua, lime, yellow. So I sorted the colours into 2 baskets - one for 'boys' and one for 'girls'.
This is the start of the blanket, the boys side (but you see the girls side peeping through:
And the girls side with the boys side peeping through:
And then almost ready to change colours - a limey green for the girls side and a dark blue for the boys side.
I am just so excited and thrilled to be making this blanket and Anita is too (blush).
I will update you on the progress of the blanket during June/ July when I expect it to be finishedso I can take it to England to post in August!!!
Thanks for visiting IACW and continue creating.
Love from MadDi XXX
