I’ve come over all flowery this week with the Chelsea Flower Show in full bloom (boom boom!) so thought I’d have a go at making some flower embellishments. I made a fairly large one to decorate a card but come Summer when I have photos of my garden (which WILL have beaten the slugs!) I am going to make some smaller ones for my scrapbook pages too.
I started off by cutting three short lengths of craft wire and securing them around each other to make a star.
I then cut six rectangles of patterned paper, folded each one in half and sandwiched the ends of the star in the paper – I used a strong liquid glue along the lengths of the wire but an ordinary glue stick for the rest of the square. I held it in place for a few seconds to give the glue time to dry. Make sure that you leave an even length of wire in the centre of the star so that your petals are fairly even.
Once you have glued the rectangles onto each point of the star you should end up with something like this…
…and then cut out petal shapes either using a little template or freehand.
Using a big blob of liquid glue again I stuck the flower onto the front of my card and, yup, more glue to cover the centre with a big button.
Once it is all dry you can shape your petals however you like!
BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE these colors. Thanks for sharing!
