Today we have a guest who has been a Creative World fan right from the beginning. She has won a prize in on of our comments competitions and her work is just AWESOME! Over to you Tammy!
Hi girls,
I’m so honoured to have been asked to do a guest spot for IACW.
Today I am going to share with you a great way to use up those old sheets of PP sitting there shoved to the back, taking up valuable space.
You know the ‘it is nice and I will use it one day’ PP’s
We are going to make envelopes.
Gorgeous plain on the outside, patterned on the inside envelopes to house all of your beautiful cards. This works best with a plain colour on one side and bold pattern on the other or a bold pattern and white back.
So choose some Paper that will match or complement your card.
Take the card and lay it on the patterned side of the PP
Trim the paper down to about 2 inches wider than the card, though this is variable you may like it wider or narrower but you would need at least ½ inch on either side.
Fold the bottom up over the card roughly ¾ the way.
And also fold the top down.
Hold your card in position and draw a line with a pencil down the outside of each edge.
Cut on the fold line and pencil line to remove the area on the outside edges of each of the upper and lower thirds of the Paper.
The most effective way to get the correct size for a dimensionally embellished card is to put the card back into position and fold up the sides to form the ‘envelope’ shape.
At this point I erase the lines and also like to round the corners, I think it gives a nicer finish. You will notice that I have also trimmed the top third, the section that will be the flap of the envelope; you can make this as long or short as you want but leave at least ½ inch overlap with the bottom section so that you can close and seal it.
For the assembly cut two lengths of Double sided tape the same length of the bottom 1/3 section of the envelope apply these to the outer edges as shown and seal around the card.
Volia there you have it!
You might like to personalise it more by scalloping the edge of the flap or cutting it with a curve etc. Add a thin strip of Double sided tape to the underside of the flap ready for sealing. I used 3mm tape on these.
Both of these cards feature chipboard and products from Remember When laser cuts in Australia
Thanks for visiting and I do hope you have some fun and use up some old stash in this fun way.
Thanks Tammy!!
