Hi, it's Maria here and I thought that I'd share my thoughts on my new toy. Now, I am not a techie person at all and can just about use the DVD player so new technology is a tad scary.
Anyhoo, I am absolutely paranoid about all my photos and live in fear of losing all traces of my girlie wirlies growing up. So, I decided that I could only sleep at night if I scanned all my pre-digital piccies and set up some safe storage.
I did a bit of a reccie on the big ole www and purchased the Epson V200 scanner from Amazon. It's fairly reasonable at a smidge under £60 with free delivery.
The V200 will scan slides, negatives, photos and documents. I scanned all of my negatives on the highest resolution and while it was a tad slow the results were well worth it.
I was very impressed with the quality and the piccie here is a scanned negative that I've cropped down. It's Charlotte at about two weeks old and she was ten this year so you can see how well the negative was scanned.
I also scanned some photos of my husband as a child and again the quality was great. The only problem with that is he wants me to make him a scrapbook of his own now.
I have now saved all of my photos onto DVDs and keep copies at home, in the garage and at my Mother in laws. Told you I was paranoid as they are also on my pc, laptop and online photo account.
So, if you're a bit of a paranoid pam like me .......... Get ALL of your piccies scanned and get a good nights sleep.
And if, like me, you also have some APS films kicking about get them scanned at Photo-Express. I sent a dozen films off and received them back the next day. I was really pleased and the price is very reasonable.
And finally, if you fancy tweaking your piccies but don't want to fork out for Photoshop you can get a FREE version. Ok, it's not a fancy pants all singing all dancing programme but it is FREE.
Have fun taking piccies and making something pretty with them.
