Hello, it's Andrea here. I've got some very funky cards to share with you today but first I'd like to say a big thank you to all of the girls at It's a Creative World for allowing me to come back for a visit to the blog. I've been missing for a while because I was very lucky to be invited to join PrimaHybrid as one of their FlowerGirls as well as the Creative Teams of several other digital designers. I'm beginning to think I need to add several hours onto the length of a day - and I'm certainly keeping myself very busy completely loving making hybrid crafts.
Today I have two hybrid cards to share with all the readers. Hybrid, in the crafting world, is essentially a term given to the combination of digital and more traditional products. To make these cards I have used a combination of digital papers and elements and traditional brads, ribbons, paper punches and doodles.
Card 1
(Supplies used - Rockabilly kit by Audrey Neal, Papermania brads, Making memories brads, Staedtler black pen)
To make the first card I used only the elements from the digital kit in my image editing programme (PSE 5) and by adding drop shadows I was able to make the stars and skulls appear to be 3Dimensional. After resizing my document to fit the card blank and printing I added real life brads to the photo prong and 'laugh' tab and doodled with a black pen around the stars.
This is the digital document that I created to make the card - as you can see most of it was created in Photoshop.
Card 2
(Supplies used - Rockabilly kit by Audrey Neal, Doodled brackets and matte by Jenna Desai, F is for tag by Meredith Fenwick, Pea Carrie computer font, Atomic Cupcake painted edge action, EK Success retro flower paper punch, Felt ball by Blooming Felt, Making Memories brad, Staedtler black pen)
The second card was made using the same digital kit with addition of a doodled bracket and matte. Again I created the document in Photoshop and printed it out (I used glossy photo paper for these cards) and then added traditional dimensional products like the spotty brad on the photo prong and the flower made with a punch, doodles and felt ball sliced in half for the flower centre. Doodling with a black pen added definition to the edges.
This is the digital document that I created for the card so that you can see what traditional products I added after the document was printed.
I hope I have inspired some of you to 'have a go' at hybrid papercrafting - as always we'd love to see your creations so please leave a link o your blog or gallery in the comments so we can come visit!!
Andrea xx
