Hi all, its MadDi from Johannesburg...
I have recently moved to Johannesburg and I now have my own "Studio" separate from the house. Woo Hoo. I have been trying to organise it and add some of my own touches, so thought I would start with the bathroom. The bathroom window leads onto a storage area which is part of the studio so allows no natural light. What to do with it????
I found some CHEAP fabric at out local Oriental Plaza! It cost less than 1 pound 50 per metre and was really WIDE. I bought 2 metres.
I measured the window which is 100 cm wide so used 150cm for the width (to allow for some gathering). I folded the materal over double so that the back and the front of the window would have the right side of the fabric. I then cut another strip which I pinned then stitched in position near the bottom of the curtain.
I then put the right sides together and stiched the sides together leaving a gap at the top for the curtain pole.
I then turned the curtain so that the right side was on the outside, stitched two rows of stitching at the top about 2 inches apart to hold the pole.
Finally I hemmed the bottom joining the back of the curtain to the front.
A few bright pink accessories and my window looks so much prettier...
I am so pleased now with the window dressing! It took about 1 hour to sew, and is JOYFULL!
Thanks for visiting IACW and love from Di XXX
