Hi there, it’s Angela here!
I’ve been wanting to try stamping on fabric for a while now, but I have been unsure where to start, after reading somewhere that it was difficult to do with good results. I decided to have a little play around with the 3 main fabrics that I tend to use, and the 6 main types of ink pads that I would frequently use.
The fabrics that I used were:
Plain Cotton
Open Weave Muslin
Silk Habotai
The ink pads that I used were:
Brown Chalk Ink
Black Adirondak Dye Ink
Brilliance Ink
Mahogany Distress Ink
Purple Stazon
Green Fabrico
I stamped the same image onto each piece of fabric using each type of inkpad.
The Brown Chalk ink tended to blur on all 3 of the fabrics, and did not give a good clear impression.
The Black Adirondak Dye Ink gave a good impression on the Plain Cotton and on the Open Weave Muslin, the ink bled slightly into the surrounding fibres on the silk.
The Brilliance Ink gave a good impression on all 3 of the materials, but was very light in appearance.
Mahogany Distress Ink bled slightly into the material on the cotton and the silk, the muslin left a good impression.
Purple Stazon gave a good impression on all 3 of the fabrics, but did appear very dark on the cotton.
The Green Fabrico is designed to be used on fabric and does give a very good impression on all 3 of the materials.
Having done these experiments, I will certainly be including stamping into my fabric projects, and maybe experiment a little more!
Hope that this encourages you to try something different too!

That's great, Angela - I'm really pleasantly surprised at how clear some of the images are - makes me want to have a play right now!
