Hiya, Trish here, today I have made dried fruit decorations for Christmas, I have used large navel oranges, sliced them quite thin, about 1cm thick, put them on a cake rack and popped them in a low oven, about 100c for around 6 hours, you will need to keep an eye on them though as it depends on your own oven on how long they will take to dry out completely. About half way through drying you may find you need to turn them to stop them from curling up too much. When your oranges are finished they will look something like this
I used 3 together and stitched them with invisible thread, tied 3 cinnamon sticks together with red ribbon and popped some fake mistletoe behind the ribbon and attached the cinnamon bundle to the oranges again using invisible thread. I now have some lovely and cheap fruit decorations for my kitchen. You can also sprinkle the orange slices with dried cinnamon powder before you dry them to give a lovely Christmassy smell.
Hope you have enjoyed todays project have fun
