Went to Cape Town and left my 3G card at home so I had very limited internet access what with all the power outages....

I am home now in Johannesburg but did have a great time in CT. It was good to see all of my friends.

One more sleep!!!

and I am off to Cape Town....

Puddle:  A small pool of water.

And small it is!!! We had so much rain yesterday, then 'the sun came out and dried up all the rain" and this is what I could find this morning!!! I salvaged this metal can planning to put a pot plant isside - not much of a puddle here!

And I have a little pampering today. I am having a facial and waxing. I have all my posts ready for IACW for the next two weeks so whatever crafting I do in Cape Town I can maybe do for emergency posts. I am taking a litlle stash and tools with me so again I will have loads of luggage. But I left a few bits in Cape Town when I moved so have to leave space to brng it all back LOL.

Went to take some shots at a music centre yesterday for some work I am doing on their website. The instruments were just so beautiful I could not resist this one:

Oh we had such a disaster yesterday making baigels - they ended up in the bin. We had the warming drawer on too high so we 'destroyed' the yeasties!!! This is how they turned out LOL 

We are going to try again today.

cos I have my car back, my sister is off work tomorow and I am going to CapeTown on Tuesday. Woo Hoo

Recycle: Covert waste into reusable materials.

Now. Who in their right mind would make an apron? They are so cheap to buy. Well me!!!! I had some old curtain lining and wanted to sew so I did. It's a lot of seams cos I used 2 peces of fabric. BUT it's great practice if you are a beginner!!!

Work in progress: Still need the ties to be attached. So this is my RECYCLE!!!

LOL, the lengths I will go to to use up bits of fabric!

Woo Hoo...

SECURE: Something that is fixed or fastened so as not to give way

My car is back FIXED, safe and SECURE in the driveway behind a great big SECURITY gate!!!!

LOl and this is what ensures that we can get into our home safely through the security gate!

The security gate is automated but run by electricity. Because we have so many power failure or load shedding as they call it, we have just installed a new motor which has a battery backup.

So yes we are reasonably secure!

I am so embarrassed about the dreadful shots I put on my blog yesterday. I am tempted to delete the post!!!

I am so excited cos next week Tuesday I fly to Cape Town for 10 days! Woo Hoo, we will be scrapping up a storm and probably have late nights and early mornings.

Still no car...

Woo Hoo, I have another busy day: computer lesson with jacqui and my dear friend Sue who I have known for 40 something years is coming to visit. We met at university in the 60's and have been friends ever since. Now that I live in Johannesburg again we can see each other more often. I also have a sewing project to finish today, well actually all I have done is cut  the thing out!!!

And my brother may come to visit to pick up a couch, but LOL I am not holding my breath hee hee Rob!!!

I have started to put aside things I will be takng to Caz in August. I really do not want her to clutter her home, but some of the things are my late mum's special little treasures so want to at least give Caz the choice! i apologise for the very poor pics, I was in a rush (blushing face)

So caz if there is anything that you want just let me know!

My studio is workng so much better for me now that it is organised. I LOVE it!!! I tidy up every day and only have out the projects I am working on. I would like to create a permanent space forthe sewing machine but am still working on that one. It would be so nice to have it permanently setup so that it is always ready to be used.

Grrrrrrrrr...

lever: A  bar resting on a pivot used to help move a heavy load

LOL my new favourite toy and this lever is working overtime punching holes in my hand made journals.

So why the grrrrr??? Cos I still do not have my car. They promised it would be ready yesterday when I phoned at 8.30am. When I had not heard by 4pm I called again only to hear there is a problem with one of the parts. Got no idea what the problem is. I am just so fed up with the poor service the lack of communication and the sheer unprofessionalism of the panel beater (who is reputed to be one of the BEST)

The computer lesson went so well yesterday. Jacqui played solitaire to practice using the mouse and it was so good. i did not know how to play the game lol cos I do not play games on my computer. But I knew that playing the game gives great and fun PRACTICE IN USING AND CONTROLLING THE MOUSE!!!

We have another lesson today and we will recap everything we have done, play another game and play with MS Word.

I finished my baby card yesterday and am really pleased with it. I lifted a IACW design done by Joanne. Will put a picture tomorrow.

Today is another crafty day. LOL what else.

Moss: A low growing, spore producing plant with no roots that grows in damp conditions. Find some moss in your space today.

My brother in law pulled this out of the Koi pond yesterday. It is called blanket weed and is the closest I have to moss today. It just sticks to the side of the pond and pulls out easily:

Wow I cannot believe that I did not post anything this weekend. The days just flew by... SORRY (blushing face here)

So it's another week and I think I get my car back today or tomorrow Woo Hoo.  I have a few things going on today:

• Computer lesson for my friend Jacqui.
• Guys coming to fix (again) the security gate.
• Avril Elizabeth home coming to fetch a cash donation, Christmas tree and decorations.
• CRAFTING - have to make a baby card and get started on my "I" page for my A to Z Journal.
• Maybe fetch my car mmmm.

The computer lessons are real fun now. Jacqui is a 60 something computer beginner. So we started from scratch. It is so great to see her becoming more confident. We recap everything we have done before every day, then start on a new skill. The most difficult so far is using the mouse and that could be because of the mouse she is using. So today we are experimenting with other computers and other mouses (???)

Mmmmm difficult one. And such a bad shot! This is the speed control on my sewing machine which you set between the 'tortoise' and the 'hare' Mine is always set FAST!

Morning all on a glorious Autumn morning in Johannesburg!   WOW, Swan Lake on Ice last night was just the very best! The stage was converted to an ice rink so was quite small but the skaters made it look HUGE! They were a Russion company with so much energy. So I had a real 'feel good' evening.  The prince at one stage was holding 3 skaters in the air and he was drop dead gorgeous. LOL

Not much on today, so hopefully lots of crafting. Yesterday we had our security gate power supply upgraded. Now the gate opens quicker and it has a battery backup to deal with the power outages we are experiencing. Someone asked about all the power outages. Well essentially our electricity supplier did NOT plan properly, so every area in the whole country expeiences outages for about 4 hours every few days!!! Can you believe it. They also want to increase our tariffs by 53%. How bad is that????

Anyway enough gloom and doom LOL. Just maybe I will get my car back today ;) Hee Hee don't you just hate being without a car. I have to remind you that we do not have regular buses and we have no local train service so a car is a real necessity! You can't walk everywhere now can you?
