Cup cake bag

I have a friend who loves cupcakes, so decided to make her a customised bag for her birthday.

 

I found the plain bag in the beach section of a large superstore, and it was so cheap I couldn't have bought the material for the same price.

I used felt to cut out a cupcake using a sizzix die on the big shot.

 

Its a good idea to pin the pieces so they dont move while you are sewing.

 

I stitched all the separate parts on using backstitch and blanket stitch.

I finished off the cup cake with buttons and then sewed it onto the bag.

 

I hope you might have a go at transforming something plain, with Christmas coming up you could make a lovely personalised gift.

Make your own stamps.

Debbie here, hoping to inspire you to make your own stamps.

I was recently having a sort out and found a huge pile of funky foam, when I looked at some of the foam stamps I already had I wondered whether it was possible to make my own stamps.

It is surprisingly easy and I was really pleased with the effect I achieved on this birthday card.

I roughly drew a cup cake and case onto the funky foam and cut them out. I added extra detail by cutting out rectangles from the cup cake case, and punching holes in the top with a cropodile.

I attached my stamps to an acrylic block using repositionable adhesive.

 

 

Stamp the cup case and top and then add a tiny circle stamp where the holes are. I have made mine slightly bigger to give two slightly different colours where they overlap.

Add a button and your message.

I hope I have inspired you to make your own funky foam stamps.

Garden Time with Caz

As novice gardeners it's been a joy to share a few of our tips which we've learnt from experience. Of course we've also learnt from each other. You can see all the Garden Time posts HERE. Storage.

As crafters we always find we collect ALOT more than we will ever use. So it's really important to have proper storage. As all as storing stash we also need to store our tools.

Happy 1st Birthday to IACW

WOW can you believe that it is 1 year since we launched It's a Creative World. Today is our first  birthday and we have lots to celebrate. It's certainly been a great year for us and we hope that we have brought you heaps of inspiration to BE CREATIVE!  It's going to be a long post today as we showcase some of the highlights of the year! BUT FIRST...

I have been looking back over the past year at all the fabulous cards. I find it amazing that we have covered almost every occasion from valentines to Christmas  You can see all of our our card making posts here, but here are some of my favourites.

 

I love Jo’s Money Cards, they are amazing cards for those teenage boys and young girls.

 

Andrea’s hybrid cards are fantastic and doing them hybrid means that you don’t need a lot of supplies

Caz’s funky Christmas cards are just the thing for brightening up a dull winter’s day.

 

 

 

This crochet card from Di  is the perfect congratulations card.

 

 

 

Last but not least our guest Tammy came up with the perfect envelope for when you run out or for those odd sized cards.

 

I hope you have found our cards inspiring over the last 12 months and I am looking  forward to next years cards.

In August 2007, I helped Caz learn to crochet and was so proud that she finished these blankets PLUS one more before Christmas 2007!

Well this past year has certainly been an exciting one. From the idea of a creative blog, where we bring you inspiration each day, to emailing crafting friends, to join in, and actually launching It's A Creative World, was a whirlwind of excitment.
We have welcomed new team members, who have brought a fresh outlook and new and exciting ideas to the blog.

One of the most exciting projects for me has been the A-Z Project which launched in January. It's a year long journey, of FUN and CREATIVITY with a letter prompt every fortnight. Nearly 200 people have registered to receive the email prompts and UKS even opened a dedicated gallery for all the awesome pages that have been made.

I cannot believe its been a whole year, but it has, and what a year, our boobie extravaganza was fab, we raised over £500 and with our target being £310 we did exceptionally well, so thank you all again for your support. Breakthrough Breast Cancer  is the post that started it, scrap your boobs and loads of you did!!!! So thank you again, we are not sure how we are going to top that one this year. Money Card!

Hello everybody! Joanne here again. Like many teenagers, my 14 year old nephew has asked for money for Christmas to save up and buy the latest computer games. With this in mind I thought I would challenge myself to come up with a card, suitable for a teenage boy, incorporating money in some way. This is what I came up with:

Not very Christmassy, I grant you. But perfect for a skate mad teenage boy, I think!

The card itself is very simple to do. I took a 15cm x 15cm ready made black card blank and onto that attached a 14cm x 14cm piece of Basic Grey Skate Shoppe "Kickflip" patterned paper, having inked all the edges in charcoal chalk ink first.

The actual skull and cross bones were freehand drawn onto white card and cut out. I then crumpled them up and distressed them with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Weathered Wood and again, inked the edges with charcoal chalk ink.

Co-ordinating embroidery floss was used to attach to metal buttons onto the skull and also to tie the £5 notes onto the bones.

The skull and cross bones were then attached to the card and it was done!

This design could obviously be used for a birthday card and I think is more fun than just sticking the money inside the card (plus with the money being actually attached to the card less chance of it getting lost!)

Christmas Planners

Christmas is less than three months away so we are starting our Christmas posts this month to hopefully have you all organised and ready for Christmas 2007. I started to use my first planner for Christmas 2 years ago, just a covered notebook with lists in, this year I have totally upgraded to an A4 binder with printouts from An Organised Christmas there are loads of different ones to pick and choose from, you just tailor it to your needs. I am also using the Holiday Grand Plan for cleaning Holiday Grand Plan Lists again I have tailored it to fit my home and family. I haven’t got a picture of mine to show you as (the shame of it) I haven’t decorated my binder, but here are some links to some gorgeous ones Holiday Notebook Tours, I found this blog last year while blog hopping, this lady, Kristin, has a wonderful notebook here Artfullyinking Blog and this one I found on Twopeasinabucket . Caz has also done a gorgeous notebook this year, and has decorated it beautifully.

I have also added a Birthday calendar and gift box list to the back of mine as I buy things all year round for Christmas and Birthdays so need to know what is in the box at any time, it does make life that little bit easier.
