Hi Joy here, this week I have been inspired by the Great British Bake Off watching the programme makes you want to rush straight into the kitchen and start baking. I like the different takes on traditional recipes and this got me thinking about Lavender Shortbread. I had seen jars of lavender sugar in the supermarket but it was always expensive. Surely with all the lavender in the garden I could make some?
I added a quick label and a flash of purple ribbon so that I could find it easily in the cupboard. I used it to make some shortbread which was delicious. I would have had a picture of it too but the children ate it before I could get my camera! When making the shortbread, sieve out the flowers from the sugar as you add it to your mixture,
I thought I may make some more for Christmas presents and print out some smart labels for them. I have considered making vanilla and cinnamon sugar as well.
